Yamaha Club Presidents Tour 2017

Yamaha Motor Philippines held their President’s Tour with select members of Yamaha clubs from around the country last January 25-27, 2017.  The club officers, mostly the Presidents and/or Vice-Presidents, with representatives flown in from Visayas and Mindanao, converged at the Yamaha Y-Zone in the Greenfields District, Mandaluyong.

After a relaxing bus trip to the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City, participants settled down at the Venus Parkview Hotel where the formal President’s Club meeting was held.  The second day started very early as the tour to Sagada was on the agenda.  Departing before dawn from Baguio City, all the riders were treated to the famous Cordillera cold weather.

The stunning beauty of the the north was in full display as the morning sun painted the landscape during the morning ride to Sagada.  The extremely cold weather delayed our trip but everyone made it safely to Rock Inn in Sagada in time for our lunch.

After a hearty lunch all the participants moved on to the Sagada Bilza Lodge which served as the groups jump off points for the different activities which were lined up.  The adventurous ones made the long descent into Sumaguing Cave and trekked to the famous hanging coffins.

There was also a trip to Sagada Pottery for those looking for tamer things to do.  Unfortunately the late hour prevented us from visiting more of what Sagada had to offer.  But as the wind picked up and the temperature dropped, food was served and everyone retreated to their own small groups as the night wound down and prepared for an early departure in the morning.
Thick fog greeted the riders as we departed from Sagada to the Strawberry Fields in La Trinidad, Benguet.  Again, as the fog broke, bright sunshine revealed more of the stunning scenery of the Cordilleras.  The mandatory stop at the “Highest Point” gave the participants a chance to have their photos taken at this famous landmark along the fabled Halsema Highway.  Arriving at the Strawberry Farms a bit past lunch time the ride formally ended and the groups were shuttled back to Manila on board our respective buses.

It was a truly unique experience, even for us seasoned travelers.  The cold temperatures we encountered was probably the lowest I have ever experienced.  I can only imagine the awe our southern visitors, most who have only heard of these places from stories and from social media, must have felt when face to face with such majesty.

Thank you Yamaha Motor Philippines for the chance to share the experience with new friends and reconnect with old ones.  Till next time!
